Microsoft today released a new firmware update for its Surface devices. The update is being rolled out on the company’s Surface Book 2 and Surface Laptop. The latest firmware update does not come with any new features but it improves the Windows 10 April 2018 Update experience on these devices.
Microsoft released the Windows 10 April 2018 Update on April 30th. Not all devices were eligible for the rollout since Microsoft generally releases the major update to the public in stages.
The process is followed by Microsoft to check and fix if any bugs are reported by users so that other users are not affected by the rollout, and on the basis of the feedback, Microsoft makes it available for more devices.
The Windows 10 April 2018 Update might take about 3 months to become available for all devices globally since Microsoft works on the basis of feedback. As noted above, the fixes and improvements are implemented on the basis of feedback provided by the users.
The rollout of the new firmware update brings a new driver for Surface Integration, and it improves the hibernation feature on devices which are currently running Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
The firmware update is rolling out to Microsoft’s Surface Book 2 and Surface Laptops which were a part of the global or public rollout of Windows 10 April 2018 update.
We could not find anything else which the company has included in the new firmware update for the Surface devices. Microsoft has already blocked the Windows 10 April 2018 update for certain Surface Pro 4 configurations with Intel’s SSD since the company has found a bug.
The company is already working on a fix for the reported bug, and once the fix is deployed, the affected PCs and Laptops will again start receiving Windows 10 April 2018 update.
The latest firmware update is currently being rolled out. The Surface Book 2 and Surface Laptop users can get the update by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > and click on check for updates option.
