“Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM”

What to do when this all to common message appears on your boot up screen for XP?  It turns out it a pretty simple fix.  Hopefully you have found your way to the true master of all computer things, me, and now you can get back to work.

You will need an XP disk or XP start up cd disk to do the simple fix.  Boot to the CD using your bios to set boot order or f12.  Choose system repair by hitting r.  Next you will type in 1 and then hit enter.  Next it will ask for your password, type it in or leave it blank if you don’t use one.  Now type in fixmbr and hit enter.  It will ask if you are sure you will type y and enter.  Next type in fixboot and enter, type y and hit enter.  Type in exit and hit enter, remove the cd and you are all set.

Feel free to send your thanks.
